Part-Time Sunday Nursery/Childcare Worker

Helotes Hills UMC is a welcoming and vibrant community of faith. We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing individual to join our team as a part-time Sunday Nursery/Childcare Worker.

Location:  Helotes Hills UMC, 13222 Bandera Rd, Helotes, TX 

Schedule:  Sundays, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Starting Pay:  $15.00 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a childcare setting.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must complete Safe Gatherings training within first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, loving, and stimulating environment for children of all ages.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and games.
  • Assist with diaper changes and feedings as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and church staff.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and policies.

Choir Director

The Choir Director uses his/her spiritual and musical gifts to help the pastor and others, and lead the worship life of the congregation. As Choir Director, he/she helps members of the congregation offer praise to God and receive inspiration from the Holy Spirit through the medium of choral music.

Position: Choir Director

Location: Helotes Hills UMC, 13222 Bandera Rd, Helotes, TX

Schedule: Less than full-time; approximately 5 hours per week

Starting pay:  Salary is determined by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) with approval of the Finance and Administrative teams. This position is paid bi-monthly.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year music degree, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
  • Possess the ability to inspire and direct an adult choir.
  • Experience as a choral director preferred.
  • Is able to plan, coordinate choir music and programs, and work as a team with the Senior Pastor and other music ministry groups.
  • Has knowledge of music fundamentals and techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, direct, support, and retain adult/teenaged choir members. In collaboration with Senior Pastor, choose diverse styles of choral music, meaningful, personal, and vibrant with a strong connection to liturgy), appropriate to Scriptures, sermon, service, holiday and/or special occasions.
  • Select, purchase, distribute, and organize choir music.
  • Arrive for Sunday worship services in a timely manner.
  • Strive to communicate effectively through e-mails, phone calls, church announcements, HHUMC’s web site and weekly newsletter, Highlights.
  • Develop, prioritize, maintain, and follow budgetary procedures/policies, seeking assistance from the Finance Committee, Discipleship, and Treasurer, when necessary.
  • Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings to facilitate communication and planning, as available.
  • Foster a spirit of joy and loyalty with fellow staff members and musicians.
